Teen Counseling & Therapy

Is your teen experiencing anxiety or depression? Have these symptoms started to impact their schoolwork or friendships? Do you think they would benefit from learning skills to better manage their emotions? You are in the right place!

We specialize in working with teenagers utilizing a neurodevelopmental understanding of treatments that would work best for them. Dr. Ali Iverson, Dr. Ashlee Rincon, Lisa Johnson, LAC Amanda Nomicos LAC, and Jennifer Salazar LPC treat teens. We are dedicated to the mental health and well-being of teens.

Our focus when treating teens and adolescents is holistic and integrative. We prefer the inclusion of the primary family dynamic in the sessions (such as having a parent come in at the end to go over the skills learned in the session). We will choose a therapy based on the needs of the patient. Types of therapies used include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness-Based Therapies, and more.

The Teen Brain

Teen years can be difficult. Navigating friendships, school, extracurricular activities, peer pressure, and current events (isolation due to COVID-19). Neurobiology makes it even more difficult as the frontal lobe is still growing for teens - the part of the brain that helps with emotional regulation, self-monitoring, controlling responses, and goal achievement.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and body-based therapies like EMDR, provide helpful skills and tools to be able to more effectively manage emotions and navigate difficult experiences. These are all skills provided by the therapists at BrainBody Wellness. Schedule a free treatment consultation today to discuss counseling options for your teen.
