Lisa Johnson, LPC
EMDR, CBT, DBT Specialist
Do you ever feel like your emotions are running your life — like no matter how hard you try, you can’t seem to turn the volume down?
Many of my clients come to me feeling anxious, exhausted, or stuck in cycles of sadness, worry, or overwhelm. For children and teens, this might show up as irritability, withdrawal, outbursts, or self-harming behaviors. Parents often tell me they just want their child to be happy again — or to feel like themselves again, instead of simply surviving each day.
In our work together, we’ll slow things down, make sense of what’s happening, and build the tools you need to feel more in control of your emotions and your life. My approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and collaborative — blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and EMDR when appropriate.
I specialize in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, mood swings, and the emotional ups and downs that come with Bipolar Disorder. My goal is to help you (or your child) move from feeling powerless and reactive to feeling grounded, capable, and confident.
If you’re ready to start feeling more like yourself again — to move from surviving to thriving — I’d love to help. Click the button below to schedule a free call with me!
More About Me: Child, Teen, and Adult Therapy in Scottsdale, AZ
Helping You and Your Family Build Confidence, Resilience, and Emotional Wellness
Is someone in your family struggling with anxiety, depression, or overwhelming emotions? Whether it’s your child, your teen, or even yourself, I know how painful and exhausting it can feel when emotions take over and you don’t know where to start. You want to feel in control, supported, and hopeful again—but finding the right help can feel overwhelming.
I’m Lisa Johnson, MSC, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Scottsdale, Arizona. I provide therapy for children (ages 6+), teenagers, and adults, helping each person learn healthy ways to manage emotions, build coping skills, and regain confidence—in school, work, relationships, and everyday life.
Why Therapy Matters at Every Age
Children and Teens:
Kids and teens today face so much pressure—social media, school demands, friendships, and life transitions. Anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress can affect their confidence, school performance, and relationships. Early support can help them develop resilience, learn coping skills, and build emotional strength for the future.
Adults:
As adults, we often juggle work, relationships, family, and our own emotional health. Stress, burnout, unresolved trauma, or big life changes can leave us feeling stuck or disconnected. Therapy can help you manage stress, regulate emotions, improve relationships, and feel more grounded and capable in your daily life.
My Approach
Each age group requires a different approach—and I tailor therapy to fit your (or your child’s) unique needs. With kids and teens, I use creativity, play, and connection to help them express emotions in a safe way. With adults, I focus on insight, coping strategies, and practical tools for managing life’s challenges.
My approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and collaborative, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy. My goal is to help every client feel seen, understood, and empowered to grow.
